A GlowRoad label cropper for resellers and suppliers

GlowRoad is known as a social commerce and reselling platform. In this kind of model, resellers share products with their own circle of customers through chat apps and social media, and the products are shipped from a supplier directly to the end buyer. People who work this way are often running a business next to a job, a household or a studies schedule, and they usually have very little spare time for paperwork. A shipping label is paperwork that has to be done properly, because a parcel without a readable label cannot move. The GlowRoad Label Cropper on this page turns the label PDF that you download into a tidy 4x6 inch file that prints correctly on a thermal label printer.

Resellers and suppliers usually want the GlowRoad shipping label in 4x6 size, a simple way to crop the order PDF, or a file that works with a thermal printer from a phone.

The steps are the same for everyone: choose the PDF, wait a few seconds and download the result. No account is needed, nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded. By default each page of the output is 4 inches wide and 6 inches tall.

This site is independent. It is not run by GlowRoad and has no link to your reseller or supplier account. It works only on a file that you download and choose yourself. Features, partners and menus on any marketplace can change, and that does not affect this tool because it works on the PDF and not on the platform.

Why a small business needs a good label routine

When you are starting out, labels may seem a small detail. Yet for a reseller, the label is the one part of the parcel that every person in the delivery chain has to read. If it is blurred, cut off or too small, the parcel can be delayed, returned to the sender or lost. A returned parcel costs you the shipping fee twice and may also cost you the sale.

Resellers also tend to handle a wide variety of products, so each day's parcels may differ in size and shape. A fixed 4x6 label gives you one fixed element in a changing process. You always know the size of the label, you always know where to put it on the parcel, and you can always check it the same way. A little consistency like that goes a long way when you are handling several tasks at once.

Using the GlowRoad Label Cropper: the simple way

  1. Download the label PDF. Open your account on the platform and find the orders that you need to dispatch. Download their labels as a PDF. If you can choose several orders together, you will receive one file with all labels. Wording and menus may change, so follow what is shown on your screen.
  2. Put the file into the tool. Drag it into the upload box or tap the box and select the file. There is no fixed page-count or file-size cap. Very large PDFs depend on available browser/device memory.
  3. Choose padding. Normal (6%) is a good setting for nearly all labels. Tight gives a larger label and Loose adds extra white space.
  4. Choose crop mode. Label only is the default. It keeps the first main block on each page and leaves out content printed far below it, such as an invoice, when there is a clear empty gap. Keep everything on page uses all the content.
  5. Wait for the bar to fill. The tool crops each page in turn, on your device.
  6. Print. Your 4x6 PDF is downloaded automatically. Check the first label and print it at 100 percent scale on a 4x6 printer.

How the cropper finds your label

It works on what is printed, not on a template

The tool has no list of label designs. It looks at the actual picture of each page and finds where ink or colour is present. That makes it flexible. If a courier changes its layout, the tool does not need an update, because it never relied on fixed positions in the first place.

It groups the ink into sections

Rows of the page that contain printed pixels are joined into sections. A section ends when there is an empty band taller than about 3.5 percent of the page height. Sections shorter than about 8 percent of the page height, such as a thin line of header text, are skipped when looking for the label.

It adds a safety margin

Before cropping, the area around the label grows by the padding you selected. Barcodes need a quiet zone, which is empty space on either side of the bars, so a margin protects scanning.

It redraws the label sharply

The tool does not stretch the small detection image. It asks the PDF reader to draw the chosen area again at about 1200 pixels across. That is close to 300 dots per inch on a 4 inch wide label. The result is placed on a 4x6 page with the same proportions as the original label.

The 4x6 label explained for beginners

If you have never bought label rolls before, the numbers can look confusing. This table puts them side by side.

Where you see itValue
Printer settings (inches)4 x 6
Label roll box (millimetres)100 x 150, in reality 101.6 x 152.4
PDF page size288 x 432 points
Printer resolution 203 dpi812 x 1218 dots
Printer resolution 300 dpi1200 x 1800 dots

If you are buying a first printer, check that it supports 4 inch wide labels, because some small portable printers take narrower rolls. A desktop thermal printer that handles 4x6 labels is a good choice for most small businesses. It uses heat to mark the paper, so you do not need ink or toner. You only need to buy rolls of labels.

Printing without trouble: a beginner's checklist

Tips for resellers who ship from home

Working from home brings its own habits. These ideas are meant to save time and avoid mistakes.

Privacy: your customers' details do not leave your device

Every label carries a name, an address and a phone number. When you sell through chat apps, your customers trust you with that information, and it matters that you keep it safe. This cropper does all of its work in your browser. The file is read there, cropped there and saved there. We do not receive it, and we have no way to open or store it.

The page loads PDF libraries and styles from this website. These requests do not contain your label. For more information, see our privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

If you also sell elsewhere, try the Meesho Label Cropper, the Snapdeal Label Cropper or the PDF Label Cropper.

Understanding the flow of a reselling order

In a typical reselling arrangement there are three parties: the reseller who finds the customer, the supplier who holds the stock, and the courier who carries the parcel. Knowing who handles which step makes it easier to see where the label fits and what can go wrong.

The reseller shares a product and its price with a buyer. When the buyer agrees, the order is placed through the platform. The supplier then receives the order, packs the item and prepares it for dispatch. At that point a shipping label is generated, and it has to be attached to the parcel before the courier collects it. If you are the supplier, the label cropper helps you at this stage. If you are a reseller who also packs your own orders, it helps you in the same way.

Because the parcel goes straight to the final customer, the label carries the buyer's own details and not the reseller's. That is why privacy matters so much: the person who prints the label sees the end customer's name and address. Treat labels as you would any private document, and do not post photos of them on social media or in group chats, even when asking for help. If you need to ask a question about a label, cover the name, the address and the phone number first.

When something goes wrong, such as a delayed or returned parcel, the label's tracking number is the first thing that anyone will ask for. Keep a cropped copy of the day's labels on your device for a week or two so that you can look up an order quickly. Delete the files when you no longer need them, because they contain customer information.

Keeping packaging costs under control

For a small business with thin margins, the cost of packing materials adds up quickly. Labels are one of the few items where a better method can lower your costs at the same time as it improves quality.

A sheet of A4 paper, a strip of tape and a bit of ink or toner cost something for every parcel. A 4x6 sticker costs a fixed small amount and needs no tape to hold it on. For a seller who ships 20 parcels a day, switching to thermal labels often pays for the printer within a few months, once you count the time that is saved. The time you save is the more important gain, because it can be used to find customers or to pack more orders.

You can reduce costs further in a few ways. Buy rolls in packs rather than one at a time, because the price per roll usually falls. Print only the labels that you need for the next pickup, and do not print a whole day's labels in advance if some orders might be cancelled. A cancelled order with a printed label is a wasted sticker. Keep your spare rolls in a dry place so that they do not spoil.

Use appropriately sized packaging as well. A parcel that is too large costs more to ship, and one that is too small may split open. For soft goods, a poly mailer of the right size keeps the parcel flat and gives the label a smooth surface to stick to. Choose one with a seam that is not in the way of the label area, so the label sits on an unbroken, flat part.

Finally, remember that mistakes are expensive. A parcel that goes to the wrong address or comes back because the label was unreadable costs more than a whole roll of labels. The few seconds you spend checking a label are the best money you will ever save.

More output sizes and a separate invoice file

The default output is 4x6 inches, but the Output size menu above the upload box also offers 100 x 150 mm, A6, A5, 3 x 5 in, 4 x 4 in and a custom width and height in millimetres. If you print on an ordinary office printer, choose an A4 sheet with 2 or 4 labels and the tool arranges the labels on each sheet so you can cut them apart. The size you pick is remembered on this device.

If your GlowRoad PDF has the invoice printed below the label, tick the option to save the invoice part as a separate PDF. The label file downloads as usual, and a Download invoices PDF button appears with the invoice parts on A4 pages. This works in Label only mode and needs a clear empty gap between the label and the invoice. If none is found, the tool tells you.

Using the tool on mobile data

Many resellers work mostly on a phone with mobile data, so it is worth knowing how much the tool uses. The page itself is small, and the two PDF libraries are downloaded only after you choose a file. Together they are a few hundred kilobytes, and your browser keeps them for later, so a second file on the same day usually needs no new download. Your label PDF is never uploaded, so it uses no data at all, however many pages it has. If your connection is weak, wait for the status message to say that the engine has loaded before you leave the page. Once the pages begin to be cropped, a short loss of signal does not affect the work, because everything runs on the phone.
